Banks Never Ask That

Phone Call Scams
Scammers sometimes try to cheat you out of your money by impersonating your bank over the phone. Scammers will often ask for your personal information, or get you to send them money. Banks never will.
  • Watch out for a false sense of urgency. Scammers count on getting you to act before you think, usually be including a threat. Banks never will.
  • Never give sensitive information. Never share personal information, such as your bank password, PIN, or a one-time passcode with someone who calls you unexpectedly, even if they say they're from your bank. Banks may need you to verify personal information if you call them, but never the other way around.
  • Don't rely on call ID. Scammers can make any number or name appear on your phone. Always be wary of income calls.
  • Hang up, even if it sounds legitimate. Stay safe by ending unexpected calls and dialing the number of the back of your bank card instead.

Other Scams
  • Email Scams: Email scams account for 96% of all phishing attacks, making email the most popular tool for scammers. Often, the scammer will disguise the email to look and sound like it's from your bank.
  • Text Message Scams: Phishing text messages attempt to trick you into sharing personal information, such as your password, PIN, or social security number to gain access to your bank account. As long as you don't respond to these messages and delete them instead, your information is safe.

Watch for these five red flags of phishing in phone calls, texts, and emails

  • They request personal information, such as account information, passwords, or social security numbers.
  • They use urgent or fear-inducing language.
  • They ask you to open a link.
  • They send an attachment.
  • They pressure you to log into, or send money with, payment apps.

How We Protect You

Secure Communications

  • Secure Socket Layers (SSL): data encryption to make sure that your sensitive information cannot be read by unauthorized individuals
  • Extended Validation Security Certificates: provides an HTTPS connection and allows you to make sure the page is secured by Amboy.

Authentication and Data Protection
  • Access: Online access to accounts is made possible by entering a User ID and Password in conjunction with Multifactor Authentication, which requires the user to verify themselves using another means of communication.
  • Firewall: Our computer system is isolated from the Internet via a "firewall" – a service that defines, controls, and limits the access that "outside" computers have to the Bank's computer. The firewall subscribes to the standards set by the NCSA (National Computer Security Association). In other words, use of the firewall allows only authenticated Bank customers or administrators to send or receive transactions through it.
