Technology: For the Young and the Young at Heart

July 6, 2022
Integrating technology into everyday life, particularly among those who did not come up in the Internet age, can be difficult. Many individuals are concerned with online threats when performing tasks, such as online payments. With so many automated processes becoming a routine part of daily life, making the technological adjustments can be a real source of frustration for people who are unaccustomed to having to login to complete digital transactions.

For individuals not as comfortable with using the Internet and who have concerns about how to utilize it safely, there are free programs offered at places like local libraries and senior centers and beginner’s classes at local colleges. Amboy Bank holds Senior Fairs and will often include Senior Security as part of the programs. But perhaps the best way to learn how to safely and effectively use the Internet is to ask a younger family member, friend or neighbor, who has the advantage of growing up in a time when online access is a natural part of their daily lives.

Some basic reminders that are always relevant:
  • Protect your passwords
  • Set automatic updates for your programs and apps, allowing for the latest versions of security updates
  • Don’t click on unfamiliar links
Please continue to check our Security Center for updates and tips, and if you experience any security related activity with any of your Amboy Bank accounts, please contact us immediately at 877-222-6269 or reportfraud@amboybank.com.
