Steve Martin of Hunter Business
Hunter Business Systems

In 1990, Steve Martin began selling printers and copy machines for a national firm right after college. Then in 1993, six weeks before he was set to get married, Steve decided to start his own business. The first shop was on Broadway in South Amboy. With business booming, he soon outgrew that store and moved to Jacoma Boulevard in Old Bridge, and then finally to Applegarth Road in Monroe, where the business is located today. In 2008, Steve expanded the business by acquiring a printer sales company in Delaware. The original company sold only laser printers and toners, and Steve expanded the business, offering existing clientele new and improved equipment options.

Today, Hunter Business Systems sells, services, repairs, leases and rents office equipment, including copiers, fax machines, wide format machines and printers. Hunter carries products from Lexmark, Kyocera, Océ, Ricoh, HP, and most notably, an extensive Canon product line. Because they focus on building relationships, they are committed to providing only the best in equipment and service.

“I bought both my first office building and my current building with the help of Amboy Bank and Despina Small, who was my lender for over 20 years. The Bank really helped me jumpstart my career. Kathie and Carol are both wonderful, and the branch is in a convenient location.”

Mr. Singh and his sons in front of Sam's MarketSam’s Market

In 2003 when Harbans Singh bought Tony’s Market he changed the name to Sam’s Market after his son Sambjeet (Sam). Today, Mr. Singh and both of his sons smile in front of Sam’s Market which offers convenience store staples, as well as fresh produce, plants and ethnic specialties. Customers are greeted by name and a friendly welcome from Simerjit, Mr. Singh’s other son. Sam’s Market is just one of Mr. Singh’s businesses enterprises that keep him busy.

“I am grateful to Amboy Bank for providing the financing to open Sam’s Market. It opened up the door to more opportunity for business with Amboy Bank as well as banking services for my family. Just as my customers walk in and are known by name, I feel the same way as a client at Amboy Bank’s Port Monmouth office.”
