If you’re looking for a unique setting look no further than the Blue Moon. Atmosphere, specialty cocktails, vast selection of beers, home-style cooking and music are all on the menu. Blue Moon is not your typical saloon, with an emphasis on live music, socializing and a welcoming environment. Every Thursday night, NJ Blues Hall of Famer Chuck Lambert hosts an open blues jam, where any musicians are welcomed to partake in the fun. The food is always fresh, and made-to-order. Burgers, steaks, and crab cakes are some of their specialties.

Cocktails range from classic to new-age; you can find something your style from the selections of vodka, bourbon whiskies, scotches and gin. There’s a frequent rotation of craft beers, as well as internationally known companies on tap.

When you leave Blue Moon, you walk out with a different experience, new friends and a satisfied pallet.

The owners take great pride in their establishment. Their focus is on great food and drinks in a friendly atmosphere. After extensive renovation, the Blue Moon opened February 2006 and Amboy Bank provided the financing needed for renovations and it’s always been a good relationship.

Imprint Shop Owner
Imprint Shop

In 1997, Mario Lubrani started pressing mugs, mousepads and hats on the back porch of his home in Eatontown. He had been working in the toy industry, but wanted to start his own business, and he saw a niche in the garment industry.

Apparel and entrepreneurship runs in the blood of the Lubrani family. Mario’s grandmother had come from Italy and sewed fur linings into coats to earn a living. She opened a blouse factory in Newark and made it through the depression with a successful business. She took great care of the women who worked for her- so much so that her staff would turn away union workers when they came in to speak with them. Mario’s mother also worked in the apparel industry, and he grew up watching her do piecework.

Mario opened the door to the Imprint Shop store on Highway 35 in 2003. He and his wife, Marilyn, embroidered everything from t-shirts to tote bags with their in-house embroidery machines. His daughter, Maria, would occasionally work in the store as well, and in the beginning of 2018, she purchased the business from her father when he could no longer work. Maria is working determinedly to expand the business, embroidering and taking all of orders during the day, and managing and updating the website at night.
The Imprint Shop provides every customer with quality embroidered and screen printed, personalized apparel. All of the embroidery work continues to be done exclusively in-house and is subject to Maria’s precise attention to detail.

Amboy:
“My dad loved Amboy, and so do I. The customer service is exceptional. Len is willing to come to the shop, so I don’t have to always go to the branch, which is a huge help when you’re running a business. When I do go to the branch, I know they know who I am, and they always ask to see how my family is doing. It’s just very comfortable. I feel like they’re part of the family.”

Younan GroupThe Younan Group

After graduating medical school in Beirut, Lebanon, Dr. George Younan moved to the United States in 1973 and opened the doors to his cardiology practice in 1978. He chose to become a cardiologist because you can give the patient an answer right away. He says there’s an immediate diagnosis in about 90% of cases- a fact that does not hold true for other areas of medicine.

During Dr. Younan’s career, he had twin sons, Zyad and Shaddy, who would grow up to both become cardiologists themselves. “Dad never pushed being a doctor, but we used to walk around the hospital with him, and we’d see the respect people had for him, said Zyad. “He didn’t need to tell. He led by example.” In high school, both boys volunteered for the First Aid Squad and took paramedical courses at Northeastern University. Although they enjoyed this work, they never knew what happened to the patients after they were brought to the hospital. Now, they say, they can see through from when a patient first walks in the door until they’re healthy again.

Although both of Dr. Younan’s sons became cardiologists, they have very different sub-specialties. Zyad is one of only 2,000 cardiac electrophysiologists in the country. He specializes in the electricity of the heart. “The heart is a very mechanical organ. I think it’s the most interesting and complex organ in the human body, and my job requires me to have good hand-eye coordination, so I am intellectually and physically stimulated every single day.” Shaddy, however, specializes in interventional cardiology. He focuses on opening arteries to restore blood flow with catharization, valves or stents. “Stents were becoming more popular and more reliable when I was in medical school, and I knew this would be the way of the future. The procedures are interesting, and technology is always changing. I’m always learning and training for something new.”

Today, Dr. Younan is the President of Medical Staff at Bayshore. When he can find the free time, he enjoys reading history and philosophy and writing both articles and poetry. Both Zyad and Shaddy do a lot of hospital work and split their office time between the Parlin office and an office in Holmdel.

Amboy:
“I worked with the South Amboy branch, and I was introduced to George Scharpf. It’s been a great relationship ever since. They are always very helpful.”
