Former U.S. Deputy Director of National Intelligence Advises of General Cybersecurity Tips

Sue Gordon, the former U.S. deputy director of national intelligence, is now a cybersecurity consultant for companies and organizations after spending decades in the CIA. The former top spy offered basic cybersecurity tips that she says are effective in preventing breaches because “cyber criminals won’t attack fortified companies. They’re really lazy.”
Two-factor identification, whenever available, is an easy step to put protections into place and thwart the “lazy” cyber criminals. Gordon also advises taking advantage of ransomware simulations, which can help predetermine decisions that would be faced should a crisis ever occur. But, according to Gordon, companies are the most equipped to prevent and cope with cyber threats when there is an internal communication about security already in place.
